What is Somatic Therapy?

Sometimes insight isn’t enough—because the pattern is still living in the body.

Somatic therapy helps you work with anxiety, shutdown, emotional overwhelm, and relational stress at the level where these responses actually happen: the nervous system. Many emotional patterns are not just psychological—they are also physiological, shaped by how your body responds to stress, safety, and connection. This approach helps you notice, understand, and gradually shift those automatic patterns so you can feel more grounded, present, and emotionally regulated in your daily life and relationships.

I integrate elements of Formative Psychology, Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT), and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) to provide:

My approach

My approach is active, collaborative, and grounded in helping people move beyond insight alone toward changes that feel more embodied and sustainable over time.

In both couples and individual work, I pay attention not only to thoughts and behaviors, but also to what happens emotionally and physiologically under stress. I then take this a step further by using my clinical insight and somatic-informed interventions to support you with developing more satisfying ways of being in relationship to yourself and your loved ones.

This often includes working with:

  • conflict or negative interaction cycles between partners

  • insecure-avoidant behaviors, such as shutdown and withdrawal

  • insecure-anxious behaviors, such as emotional flooding or overwhelm

  • protective responses in relationships

  • the body’s automatic reactions during distress

  • awareness of bodily signals as information re: one’s emotional state or needs
