Couples & Relationship Therapy

You’re not “stuck” because you don’t care… you are stuck in a pattern.
Somatic couples therapy can help.

I specialize in supporting couples and relationships with managing their two-person system in a satisfying way, including developing more secure-functioning behaviors. Our work is focused, active, and centered on the pattern between you.

We will …

  • Identify the interaction cycles that are no longer satisfying for the two of you

  • Slow it down so you can both start to recognize it as it is happening

  • Understand what each of you is reacting to and the function of those reactions as protective strategies to keep yourselves emotionally safe

  • Track what happens in your bodies when conflict escalates or shuts down

  • Interrupt the cycle as it is happening, not just after

  • Relationships are some of the most rich and rewarding containers in which we can get to know ourselves.

What makes a Somatic-emotional approach to couples therapy different?

When it comes to relationships, context is everything.

For that reason, the start of our couples therapy will involve an in-depth partner attachment interview (PAI), so I can get a sense of the people, places, and experiences that helped to shape who each of you are. This information can often shed some light (for all of us) on some of the dynamics at play in your interaction cycles.

Some ways that couples therapy can help include…

  • cultivating more emotional and physical closeness

  • developing your capacity to better manage life’s obstacles as a team

  • heal from betrayal and re-establish trust and accountability

  • share yourselves more authentically and constructively with one another

  • repair from conflict and navigate disagreements with more ease and less reactivity

I strive to offer a balanced and relational approach to support you and your person with nurturing your relationship. If this is something you would like to work on together, I would love to hear from you.

I offer 50-minute and 75-minute sessions on a weekly basis for couples therapy.
